TONSILLECTOMY & ADENOIDECTOMY
Tonsillectomy is a surgical operation that removes the tonsils from the sides of the pharynx (throat). It is a highly effective operation when performed for the correct indication.

Common indications include recurrent tonsillitis, sleep apnoea, snoring, unilateral tonsillitis, Typically, the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and patients will require hospitalization for 1-3 days.
Tonsillectomy is performed with cold instruments, electrocautery, lasers and Coblation.

In children Adenoids are often removed together with the tonsils and this is usually performed to reduce middle ear infections, sleep apnoea or recurrent upper respiratory tract problems.
